As Earth Gets Hotter, Scientists Break New Ground Linking Climate Change to Extreme Weather

So here we are again with yet another annual global temperature record. That’s right, 2016 will go down as the warmest year globally since record-keeping began, with preliminary reports indicating that 2016 was 1.3 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial times. If it feels like you’ve heard this song before it’s because you have. The last three years […]

Another Major Climate Breakthrough: China Will Cap its Coal Consumption by 2020

Barbara Finamore, Senior Attorney and Asia Director, Beijing Hard on the heels of last week’s historic US-China Joint Announcement on Climate Change, in which China pledged for the first time to cap its CO2 emission by 2030, China’s State Council has just announced a new energy strategy action plan that includes, also for the first time, a cap on national coal consumption by 2020.  This is another major breakthrough for climate and for China’s people, since coal is the largest contributor to CO2 emissions as well as to China’s dangerous PM 2.5 air pollution. This latest announcement came just after the Coal Consumption Cap and Energy Transition International Workshop that NRDC organized in Beijing on November 17-18th.  NRDC has… Read More

GOP Has An Immoral Agenda To Destroy The Climate Or Something

Another day, another Warmist losing his mind. In this case, it is the Washington Post’s Tom Toles Remember how the GOP swept into the Senate by promising to cripple the EPA and its ability to enforce its mandate to protect against pollution that will damage the climate? No, they really didn’t get a mandate for that, but details, details, they are planning to try it anyway. Yes, they are. They plan on pushing the Keystone XL pipeline through, and limiting the EPA mission creep, which ranges anywhere from their absurd economy killing regulations on “climate change” to wetlands overreach to many other things of which there is massive mission creep/overreach (read here, here, here, and so many more). Is anyone… Read More

Co-founder Of Weather Channel: Climate Change Nothing But A Lie

Of course, John Coleman is going to be personally attacked, as Leftists are wont to do (Express UK)  John Coleman, who co-founded the Weather Channel, shocked academics by insisting the theory of man-made climate change was no longer scientifically credible. Instead, what ‘little evidence’ there is for rising global temperatures points to a ‘natural phenomenon’ within a developing eco-system. In an open letter attacking the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, he wrote: “The ocean is not rising significantly. “The polar ice is increasing, not melting away. Polar Bears are increasing in number. “Heat waves have actually diminished, not increased. There is not an uptick in the number or strength of storms (in fact storms are diminishing). “I have studied… Read More

Study: U.S. West Coast Warming Mostly Natural

Let’s reiterate that the debate is primarily about causation: Warmists say it is mostly/solely caused by Mankind, especially our use of fossil fuels (which Warmists mostly refuse to give up themselves). Skeptics say the warming during the Modern Warm Period is mostly/solely natural. At that point we can get into the debate about Man’s contributions, such as true global changes, land use, urban heat island effect, etc. Warmists state that this warm period is utterly and completely different from previous warm periods because of industrialization, whining as they type on their corporate made laptop/tablet/smartphone as a they sip a corporate made latte made with beans shipped from another country, made in a corporate built building which has evil ice… Read More

6 key insights from the latest IPCC climate report

By Ilissa Ocko (This post originally appeared on EDF Voices) Since 1990, the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has released a series of reports that assess the latest data and research on climate change. The reports are issued approximately every five years. In September 2013, the IPCC issued its newest round of reports by sharing the latest science, concluding with more confidence than ever that humans are responsible and that weather will likely get even more extreme, along with many other key findings. The newest report, released today, looks at impacts, adaptation and vulnerability. Next month comes the thirdreport in the 3-part series that makes up the IPCC’s 5thAssessment Report (IPCC AR5); it focuses on mitigation—that is, actions to limit the magnitude and… Read More

Methane Pollution Coming From The US Is Far Worse Than Anyone Has Realized

A new landmark study in the journal Science found that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) inventory of greenhouse gases is under counting total U.S. methane emissions by roughly 50 percent. Based on atmospheric sampling, the study estimates that this missing methane amounts to 14 terra grams (Tg) of methane; that’s equal to 6.4 billion pounds, or as much as the weight of 1.4 million new Ford F150 pickup trucks. In the years immediately after it’s released, methane is a potent greenhouse gas. It causes 86 times as much global warming over a 20-year period as carbon dioxide, the single largest contributor to climate change. According to our analysis at Energy Innovation, the methane missing from the EPA’s inventory — in terms of the contribution… Read More
